The grand Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony is scheduled for Friday, December 1, at 5:30 p.m. Governor Ivey, after visiting with the ALDOT employees as they decorated the tree, expressed her gratitude to the volunteers and workers for their efforts in preparing the state Christmas tree for the festivities. Additionally, the tree was adorned with handmade ornaments crafted by the Garden Club of Alabama, each reflecting the theme of "Every Light a Prayer for Peace." Throughout the week, ALDOT workers adorned the Coosa County evergreen with 50,000 dazzling lights, along with 67 stars symbolizing Alabama's 67 counties. Upon arrival, a dedicated team of ALDOT workers meticulously prepared the tree, ensuring it was evenly cut and centered before hoisting it into its stand. It proudly claims the title of the largest displayed Capitol Christmas tree in the state's history. What sets this year's tree apart is its impressive height, standing at a towering 45 feet.
